Carl Arthur Moll, age 93, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Sunday, October 9th, 2016.

He was born May 18, 1923 to Reginald and Gertrude Moll in Bruce Crossing, MI. He graduated from
Ewen High School in 1942. Intensely competitive, he enthusiastically participated in Track and Field and
Hockey. January 13, 1943, he volunteered for the military, enlisting in the 10th Mountain Division
Infantry, 86th regiment. August 1943, he transferred to the 1st ARCTIC SEARCH AND RESCUE SQUADRON,
USAAF where he was a sled dog trainer and handler.

In September 1943, he was stationed in Greenland where he participated in ski rescue work. He thrived
in the bleak environs of the Arctic and was later offered work as a civilian contractor North of the Arctic
Circle, because of his rare penchant for such survival, but chose life in his hometown. He returned to
Bruce Crossing to marry his sweetheart, Lorraine Neuman, in September of 1945 and was discharged
with the rank of Sergeant from the military in December, 1945. Upon his return, he and his father began
a wholesale beverage business, artesian "pop" bottling and beer distribution, which they operated for
more than 20 years with Rainey and their boys, Jake and Bud.

During the 1960s and 70s he raised Polled Hereford show cattle and was an active member of the
Wisconsin Hereford Association. He was self-employed the vast majority of his life: He built businesses
in Bruce Crossing and Sarasota, Florida, doing everything from wilderness guiding, to owning a sporting
goods store, to carpet installation and construction. Carl was a charter member of the Bruce Crossing
V.F.W. and remained active with the organization throughout his life. He was a hard man, but loved to
laugh and make others laugh. He will be remembered as a brilliant storyteller, a creative, artistic and
imaginative inventor, who was always striving to "improve" everything around him. All that knew him
can probably think of something that he "Carl-ized", for better or worse. Everything was an experiment.
An avid canoeist, trapper, angler, hunter and fur buyer, log cabin builder and all around Jack-of-all-
Trades; he truly lived life to its fullest.

He is survived by Lorraine, his loving and devoted wife of 72 years; sister Mary Albright (Harry); sister
Sally Jean McGuire; daughters-in-law Nancy and Joan; grandson Shawn (Terri); granddaughter Angela
(Gavin); great-granddaughter Phoebe; great-grandson Cyrus; great-grandson Graham; great-grandson
Chase; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his sons,
Bruce Arthur "Jake" and Carl Alexander "Bud" and sister Kaye Carlson.

Memorial Service to be held at the Cane Funeral Home of Bruce Crossing, 11:00 AM EST, Friday, October
14th, with Pastor Katherine Carlson (niece) officiating. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Luncheon to follow at "Twilly's"
