Carl Ivar Pantti Sr.

Carl Ivar Pantti of Greenland, MI.   Passed away on July 5th , 2015 at his home in Greenland, Mi.  He was born on August2, 1940 to Wilho R and Emma Suzanne (Leppanen) Pantti , in Houghton County  MI .  He attended Roger Clark High School in Rockalnd,  MI. 

He served 2 years with the US Army, and served 13 months in Korea at the end of the Korean War. 

On Feb 24th, 1961 he married Anita Martin of Greenland in Ontonagon, Mi.  They made their home in Greenland most of their 54 years together. 

After serving with the Army Carl worked on Road construction until the 1970’s when he went to work in the woods with his  Dad and his brother William.  In 1982 he went to Alaska to work, and in November of 1982 he was employed with the Civil Engineers 5099th as an Operating Engineer.  He remained in Alaska until 1992.  He then returned to Michigan and worked on road construction for Bacco Construction of Iron Mountain and Lingberg and Sons of Ishpeming, Mi.  He was a member of Operating engineers Local 324. 

He is survived by his wife Anita,  daughter Paulette Hill of De Pere, Wi., Richard ( Tara Store ) of Mass City, Mi.,  Carl Kio Pantti Jr of Greenland, Mi., and David Pantti of Greenland, MI.  8  Grandchildren Megan and Erik (Rachel) Hill of De Pere, Wi., Jacob Pantti of Ironwood, Mi., Amanda ( Richard Laingren) Pantti  of Ontonagon, Rudy and Sara Pantti of Greenland, Britni Lakkala of Greenland,  and Emma Pantti of Salem, Mo., 1 Great Grandchild, Lilly Laingren, of Ontonagon. 

He is also survived by his wife’s family Sue(Phil) Broadhead of Fountain Valley, CA,  Jim (Lorraine) and John (Colette) Martin of Millington, Mi., Gail Immonen of Greenland, Muriel Roberts of Rockland, Patricia (Jerry)  Walker of Ontonagon and Jack Reynolds of Greenland MI.   

He was preceded in death by his Parents, 2 brothers Rudy and William Pantti and a Son – In – Law Frank Hill.  

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, July 8th 2015 at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon, with visitation at 11 AM until the time of service with the Reverend Bruce Steinberg of the United Methodist Church in Greenland.  Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Greenland. 

Pallbearers will be David Elblag, Chris Hill, Kevin Anttila,  Dean Washer,  Dan Winkler, and Kevin Patina.
