Francis A. Bonen, 82, a resident of Hancock Mi, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening June 14th, 2016.
Francis was born on March 29, 1934 in Hubbell, to Henry and Rose (Duhaime) Bonen. Francis attended St. Ceclia's Convent School and Dollar Bay High School. After high school Francis enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He moved to White Pine and was employed by the White Pine Copper Mine in 1968 until his retirement in 1993. In 2001 he moved to Cane Court in Ontonagon. He enjoyed playing his music for the senior citizens at Maple Manor, Long Term Care and Safe Harbor. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and was also a life time member of the PUFL American Legion.
Francis was proceeded in death by his parents, six brothers, Emery, Victor, Joseph, Jim, Jerry and Ben.
He is survived by one brother, Roy Bonen of Hancock, Mi. A sister-in law Dorothy Bonen of Hubbell, Mi. Also 3 nephews and 4 nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday June 24, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Michael Jacobus officiating.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cypress Manor for their outstanding care and kindness.
