Glen Besson, 79 of Rockland, MI died peacefully at home after a brief illness on September 17, 2015. He was born in Ontonagon on March 16th 1936 to the late Arthur and Esther Besson. 

He graduated from the Ontonagon High School and served his country for 22 years in the Air Force, including overseas tours of several countries. He retired as a Chief Master Sargent. After his military service he spent several years as the yard supervisor at the paper mill in Ontonagon. In 1959 he married Aiko Hayashi, from Nagasaki, Japan. They were married 50 years. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2009.

He was a member of the VFW post in Ontonagon and Norwich Country Club. He loved deer camp and hunting, cribbage, and bowling. He was a Michigan fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red wings.


He is survived by a brother Robert Bessen from Florida as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Marylou Isotalo and Dorothy Kero.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow at the VFW in Ontonagon.
