Gordy "Unk" Thoreson

Gordy “Unk” Thoreson 69 of White Pine passed away on April 5, 2016 at home with his loving wife & family by his side.

He was born in Crystal Falls, MI to Carl & Esther (Peterson) Thoreson on May 31, 1946. Gordy married Linda Hendrickson on September 30, 1989. He worked for Copper Range for 42 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam era veteran. Gordy was a member of the White Pine American Legion Nonesuch Post 462.

His family & friends will forever cherish their special memories. Gordy was known for his kindness to others. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. Gordy loved to make beef jerky and share it with all his friends and relatives. He recently made a special batch with his niece and a special batch for one of his chemo nurses. His acts of kindness are too many to mention.

A special thank you goes out to his friend Roger Springsteen for all the help & support. Also his PA Brianne Sable & his special caring hospice nurse Melissa Miles. 

Gordy is survived by his wife Linda Thoreson (Hendrickson), sons Robert Thoreson of Tulare, CA & Ron (Nicole) Thoreson of Marianna, FL, 2 brothers Kenneth “Bucko” & Terry “Turk” (Mary) Thoreson, 3 sisters Darlene (Dick) Umbaugh, Anna (Don) Beleck & Bonnie (Lindy) Tadiello, 5 grandchildren, sister-in-laws Shirley & Helen Thoreson, mother-in-law Anna Hendrickson ("Ma"), sister-in-law Sandy Kotlaris, brother-in-laws:Mike Hendrickson, David (Becky) Hedrickson & Jake (Patty) Hedrickson, numerous nieces, nephews & friends. And of course Grody';s special partner, his dog Willie.

He was preceded in death by his parents & 4 brothers Dean, Dale “Butch”, Glenn “Cully” & Carl Thoreson..

Memorial services will be held Friday, April 15, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the White Pine American Legion, Pastor Rosemary DeHut officiating. Friends may call at the Legion from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
