James Sebastian Seeliing

James Sebastian Seeling 83 of Metamora and Rockland passed away June 14, 2015 in Lapeer, MI.  He was born March 17, 1932 in Rockland to Mitchell & Gert Seeling.

Jim was a veteran who served in the Army during the Korean War.  He moved to Southfield, MI in 1955 where he worked as an excavator for a family owned business, which later became his own. Jim retired in 1994. During his retirement, Jim spent the summers with his wife Laura in Rockland and his winters with his wife, kids and grandkids in Metamora. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his family. He was happiest in Rockland; cutting grass, tinkering in his pole barn and spending hunting season with his boys. He will be missed greatly.

Jim is survived by his children, Julie (Dave) McKenna, James (Dawn) Seeling, John (Margaret) Seeling, and Jeffrey (Ann Marie) Seeling; grandchildren, Ashley (Jesse) Mitchell, Kaylie, Michael, and Daniel; brother Michael Seeling and sisters Marlene (Ron) Hajek, Mary (Jim) Brown & Bernadette (Dennis) David.

The family will greet family and friends at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rockland from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 19th.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church at 11 a.m.  Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Rockland.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Milton G. Preiss American Legion Post 92 or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
