John (Jack) Henry Cottenham, aged 91 of Ontonagon, MI  passed away suddenly on Tuesday August 8, 2017 while a patient at Ontonagon Aspirus Long Term Care.

He was born November 5, 1925 In Trout Creek, son of John and Helen (Brady) Cottenham.  John went to school in Trout Creek, MI to the 11th grade.  He worked at Abbott Fox Lumber Company until getting hired by White Pine Copper Country in 1968.  He remained there until his retirement in 1985.

John's hobby was brook trout fishing.  He spent many hours on the streams in and around Trout Creek.  His favorite was the Big Jumbo near Kenton.  He was also avid deer hunter for a good venison roast rather than horn size.

John was preceeded in death by his wife, Beverly (Carlisle) Cottenham in July 27, 2003.  Surving are his brothers Joseph Cottenham and George Cottenham.  Also children, Diane June (Cottenham) Balcomb of Ontonagon, Robert David Cottenham of Ontonagon, James Dennis Cottenham of Iron River, MI.  Four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

There will be no services at this time.  A gathering of friends is planned for a later date.
