Karen Sue (Picotte) Howard

December 1, 1944 ~ December 30, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Karen Sue Howard, 73, of White Pine, MI passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at her home in White Pine.

She was born in Ontonagon, December 1, 1944 to William Picotte and Ellen (Carlson) Steed.  She was a graduate of White Pine High School, class of 1963.

Karen owned and operated the “Weekly Bulletin” and went on to purchase Mac's Bar in 1991 and changed the name to Roxey’s Lounge after her beloved Doberman Roxey.  After many years of owning and operating Roxey’s she retired.

Karen enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards with her family, crocheting, knitting, reading,  working on jigsaw puzzles and one year she knitted 200 golf club covers.  Karen was well known to her family as being a wonderful cook.  She lived up to her “SIGN” which sat behind her bar.

She is survived by her 3 daughters; Wendy (Gary) Gouin of White Pine, MI,  Machel (Mike) Borsum of Dollar Bay, MI and Jo Ellen (Ben Mayer) Howard of Ontonagon, MI,  9 grandchildren; Dillon, Chase, Page Marie, Tayler,Sabrina, Nikoli, Daymin, Dustin & Adelaide.  2 brothers; Donald (Jeanette) Picotte and Ronald (Kristin) Picotte, 4 sisters; Sandra (Andy) Aubrey, Kriss Steed, Candy Steed and Lisa (Aaron) Gray.  Also several nieces and nephews and beloved friend Lynn Distel.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather “Pops”, her  sister,  Jeanene Behnke  and brother’s Douglas Picotte and Michael Steed, her nephew Michael Aubrey, her dear friend Ray Sokol and beloved Doberman, Roxey.

To Missy LeGault,  there are no words to express our gratitude with the loving care and compassion you showed to our Mother. 

At the request of Karen's wishes, there will be no services.

The Cane Funeral Home of Ontonagon is assisting the family with arrangements.
