Leona Marie (Anton) Brunk

Leona (Toni) Marie Brunk, age 53, of Watersmeet, passed away on Monday October 24th, 2016 at home with her family by her side. 

Leona was born in Land O’ Lakes, WI to Franklin and Carol (Antone) Brunk.  Toni grew up in Milwaukee, WI where she had 3 children.  She is a 1980 graduate of Milwaukee Indian School and in 1994 she moved back to Watersmeet, MI.  During her years in Watersmeet, Toni has been employed cooking for children at LVD, PCC also working security at LVD Casino. 

Toni enjoyed music, going to the casino, bingo, babysitting and taking care of family and friends.  Her hobbies included beading, storytelling, arts and crafts and teaching her skills and talents.

Survivors include her two sons;  Michael Brunk  and Douglas Nicholson Jr, both of Watersmeet and one daughter; Lydia Brunk of Watersmeet.  Leona is survived by 4 grandchildren; Iycess, Neena, Dezmond and Ontionna Brunk.  She has three sisters; Elizabeth (Bobby) Hendricks of Watersmeet, Linda (Randy) Cobe of Naubinway, MI and Celia (Gus) Mundell of Iron River, MI. 

Leona is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Melvin and Luther Brunk and her sister Gayle.

Visitation and Drumming will take place Wednesday, October 26th 2016 at the Lac Vieux Desert Recreation Center, Watersmeet, MI at 6:00 pm CST and a service will take place Thursday morning, October 27th at 10:00 AM CST at the Lac Vieux Desert Recreation Center, Watersmeet MI with James Williams Sr. officiating.   Pallbears will will be Danko, Randy, Luther, Jason, Derrick and Darren.
