​Margaret Eleanor Livingston, 94, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at Aspirus Long Term Care in Ontonagon. Margaret was born in Ridgedale, Saskatchewan, Canada to Bernard and Sara Isadore (Whitlock) Cummings on September, 3, 1922.

​In 1938 Margaret and her family moved to Matchwood, Michigan where she attended the Bergland School. Margaret married Michael Livingston in 1942 and they raised 4 children together. Sandra, Terry, Michael and Patrick. 

​From 1952 through 1962 Margaret served as Matron at the Ontonagon County Jail where her husband Mike was Sheriff. In 1968 she attended nursing school through Grandview Hospital in Ironwood and later worked as an LPN at the Lacroix Hospital in White Pine until it closed in 1986.

​In retirement Margaret worked for 15 years at the Lakeview Senior Center in Bergland until moving to Ontonagon in 2003. She then went on to work at the Ontonagon Senior Center and Ontonagon Historical Museum. 

​Margaret was a kind, generous, loving and humorous woman. She loved her children and grandchildren very much. She enjoyed reading, crosswords, local history, watching hockey and the Green Bay Packers. She had an enormous love for animals and spent many happy hours painting with her friends of the art group in Bergland. She loved being Irish and made sure everyone knew it. She was known to many as “Grandma Mike” and she will be greatly missed by all that knew her. 

​She was proceeded in death by her parents, sister Kathleen and her husband/love of her life Michael. Surviving are her four children, Sandy (Ken) Heikkila of Ontonagon MI, Terry (Diane) of Rock Springs WY, Mike (Marilee) of Bessemer MI, Pat (Mary) of Oak Creek WI. Fourteen grandchildren, Joe, Jennifer, Jamie, Jonathon, Theresa, Bobby, Jamie, Michael Pat, Donald, Heather, Amanda, Caitlyn, Adam and Ryan. Eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brennan, Holden, Jaxon, Sanorraine, RaeAnn, Malena and Nolan. And one great-great granddaughter, Monroe. 

​Graveside services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Bergland on Friday May 12, 2017 at 11:30am with Father Michael Jacobus officiating. 

The Cane Funeral Home of Ontonagon, MI is assisting the family with arrangements.
