Marjorie Jennie Sironen, 92, of Ewen, passed away on March 29th 2016.  

Margie was born in Baltimore, Michigan to Alex and Anna Timoshuk on March 24th, 1924. She attended elementary classes at the Baltimore schoolhouse, and then graduated from Ewen high school. She enlisted in the United States Army on Jan 25th, 1945 as a medical technician and served until Nov 6th, 1946. While serving her country, Margie received the American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Meritorious Unit Award.  

After being discharged from the Army, Margie went to work for the US Postal Service and worked for that agency until her retirement in 1984. She retired as the postmaster in Ewen. Margie was very involved in the community. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, American Legion, and the Ewen Clinic Auxiliary. 

While working at the Post office in Ewen, she met Eli Sironen. They were married on Feb 5th 1949 in Wakefield, Michigan and resided in Ewen.  

Margie is survived by her son, Evan (Gayle) Sironen, of Ewen. Sisters Anna (Ellis) Wienen  (Ironwood, MI), Elizabeth (William) Hester (Hope Mills, NC,) Lila (Anthony) Branca (Cranston, RI), Dorothy (Jack) Pottala, (Trout Creek, MI), Shirley Decker (Plainwell, MI), Kathy (Gerald) Perttula, (Trout Creek, MI), Virginia (Raymond) Martin (Ingleside IL). Grandchildren Carolyn (Michael) Kerkela (Negaunee, MI), Emily (Brandon) Vukusich, (Wakefield, MI), Jenny (Robert) Hood, (Spring Creek, NV), Laura Sironen (Wausau, WI). Great-Grandchildren, Isaac, Shayna, and Evynn Hood. Ella Kerkela and Desolyn Vukusich and numerous nieces and nephews. Margie is also survived by her beloved cat ‘LOOLS’. 

Margie is preceded in death by her husband Eli Sironen, parents, Alex and Anna Timoshuk, brother Lawerence Timoshuk, sisters Mary (Archie) Pitkanen, and Ella (Laurie) Jaakola. 

A memorial service will be held at the First Lutheran Church of Ewen on June 10, 2016 at 2 p.m.  

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ewen with Ontonagon County Veteran's providing military honors.

A very special thank you goes to the staff at Gogebic Medical Care Facility for taking such good care of our beloved Margie.  She was well loved by all who met her and always had a sunny smile for everyone.
