Mary “Squig” Atols, 81 of Ontonagon passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born on December 3, 1935 in Aurora, IL to Barnabus & Alice Sears. Squig’s summers as a youth were spent in Ontonagon, MI in the cabin her father built on Lake Superior. She would drive her father’s old army jeep, packed with her friends, up and down the streets of Ontonagon.
In 1965 Squig was united in marriage to Robert Atols in Chicago. Together, they lived in Aurora & Sugar Grove, IL. In 2007 they moved permanently to Ontonagon. They both enjoyed boating on the great lakes as well as extensive world travel.
Squig is survived by her husband Bob, daughter Laura, son Barnie, 3 grandchildren Ashley, Christopher & Aaron and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Janice and sister Pat.
Visitation will take place Monday, November 27, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Ontonagon, MI from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 AM.
