Darlene,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm glad our classmates had an opportunity to get together with you and Mel a year and a half ago. You seemed to go together like hand in glove. May God be with you in your sorrow.
Blessing,
Pam

Some of my fondest memories of Mel are from the days that he and Burger would play fast pitch baseball behind Kaurala's barn (with a sponge ball) against Don Karvonen and me. The field had a backstop as well as an infield but we did not run to bases. He and Burger were a couple of years older thus much stronger and could throw hard. Burger had very specific ground rules which all made perfect sense. He and Mel sometimes had a tendency to modify those rules as the game went on. Those two guys beat us most of the time but occasionally we'd pull one out. These contests went on for a number of summers. We had our own Field of Dreams.
Great memories.
Sending our deepest sympathy.
Jim
