Robert E. Lindberg passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital’s Long Term Care Facility.
He was born in Bruce Crossing on December 3, 1932 to the late Charles & Sophia Lindberg. After attending local schools, he worked for the Peterson Lumber Company in Watersmeet before joining the military.
Robert was stationed in Korea where he served with the 15th Anti-Aircraft Artillery automatic weapons battalion. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean War Service Ribbon with a bronze star. Robert was a life member of VFW Post 9345 of Bruce Crossing and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is preceded in death by brothers Oliver, Charles & Raymond, sisters Alvina Juhola, Martha Fleminig & Shirley Sexton, niece Liz Coryell and several nephews.
Robert is survived by his sister Sigrid Bonetti and many nieces and nephews who loved “Uncle Bob”.
A graveside service will be held at the Hillside Cemetery in Bruce Crossing on Thursday, September 15th at 11 a.m. with military rites provided by the Ontonagon County Veterans Association. The Cane Funeral Home-Bruce Crossing Chapel is assisting the family.
