Ronald Richard Singer, Sr.

Ronald Richard Singer, Sr. of Silver City passed away on July 15, 2015 at 9:00 P.M. at his home.

Ron was born in Albany, OR on June 19, 1944.  He went to school at Utica Community School in Utica, MI.  He married Sheryl Maslanik on May 6, 1967.  They had two children, Ronald Richard, Jr. and Shannon Lee.  They were divorced October 18, 1974.

He worked as a carpenter for F & J Carpentry for many years.  After a work-related injury making it difficult to continue as a carpenter he attended Dorsey Business School.  He worked for Dana Corporation as a Credit Analyst until the company dissolved his position, and took early retirement.

On November 1, 1997 he married Ella Erickson.  They lived in Berkley until Ella retired in 2007 and they moved to Silver City.

He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Navy for four years.  After moving to the U.P. he and Ella became members of the White Pine Community United Methodist Church.  He was involved in Jail Ministry and the Gideons.  He loved music and singing and was a member of Jim Jessup’s Gospel Choir for several years. He served as sub-coordinator of District #1 for Lay Servant Ministry, UMC.

Ron is survived by his wife Ella; son Richard; daughter Shannon; granddaughter Jessica; stepdaughter Ramona Skriden; step-grandsons Elijah Borde and Xavier Borde; brother Rodney Lee Singer; sister Donna Jean Hevel and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother Alice Emily and his father Donald James Singer.

A Memorial Service will be held on August 7, 2015 at the White Pine Community United Methodist Church with visitation at 10:00 A.M. and service at 11:00 A.M., followed by lunch in the church fellowship hall presented by the women of the church.

Memorials may be given to the White Pine Community United Methodist Church.
