Rosalie M. Younk

Rosalie M. “Peggy” Younk passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Aspirus Ontonagon Long Term Care at the age of 90. 

She was born on July 4th, 1927. She was the only daughter of William and Julia (LeMoine) Harris.  She grew up in Green and graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1944.  On May 28th, 1949 she married Walter J. Younk. The couple made their home in Ontonagon and raised two children, Mary Patricia and James Walter.  She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Rosalie is survived by her daughter, Mary Pat Younk, brother, Ed Harris of Traverse City, Michigan, daughter-in-law, Cathy Younk of Gerber, California and Aunt Germaine LeMoine of Ontonagon. She is also survived by grandchildren Latisha (Roger) Guerrero, Stephen (Mehgan) Younk, Joseph (Kanya) Younk, Aleisha (Danielle) Younk, 5 great-grandchildren, Landon, Bryson, Paxton, Jayden and Kristen.  Also, surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walt, son, Jim, brother Jack Harris, uncle, John LeMoine and sisters-in-law Dorothy Harris and Rose Harris.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Jacobus officiating.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.

The Cane Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, you are asked to make a donation to St. Vincent DePaul at 205 Quartz St. Ontonagon or The Ontonagon County Veterans Association at 15086 State Hwy M-38 Ontonagon.
