SHARON MATILDA CHERAVA-LERUSSI
Sharon Matilda was born April 2, 1950 to the late Paul and Eleanor (Picotte) Guzek. She graduated from Ontonagon Area High School in 1968. In her 20’s she lived throughout the Midwest, where she especially loved Indiana and continued to reminisce about her time there.
Eventually, fate returned her to her hometown where she met and married Thomas Cherava. Together they had 3 children, to whom she dedicated her existence. She was a hard worker yet always made time to savor a hot cup of coffee. Throughout her life she enjoyed joking and was known to effortlessly put a smile on another’s face. Her infectious laugh could brighten the darkest day. Music doubled as a timeline in her life, and there was always a song that would remind her of a feeling or event to leave her to reflect upon. She enjoyed mornings and the quiet solitude of nature. Reading was a favorite pastime of hers as well as talking endlessly on the phone with those closest to her. In fashion with her 1960’s roots she had a passionate political mind and always rooted for the “under dog” and those less fortunate.
After an unexpected yet peaceful passing on September 1, she was greeted in the afterlife by her only son, (Cpl) Nicholas Cherava (2005), her husband Thomas Cherava (2000); her following husband Robert Lerussi (2015) and her dog, Dakota (2014); among others. Remaining to eternally love and miss her are her two daughters, Christa and Cheryl Cherava, “grand baby” Pumpkin (the cat), her brother Tim & Kerry Guzek, and additional family and friends near and far.
Never.
We never lose our loved ones.
They accompany us; they don’t disappear from our lives.
We are merely in different rooms.
