Susanne Elizabeth Martin

Susanne Elizabeth Martin of Reading, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home on August 14th. Susanne was born to Jack Martin and Rose Ellen Plutchak Martin (formerly of Rockland) on December 3rd, 1946.  Susanne and her family moved to Detroit in 1960 where she graduated from Redford High school. Susanne attended St John’s College in Annapolis and completed her degree from Harvard. After a 29 year career with MIT she retired and began volunteering at what became a big part of her world, Mission of Deeds.  Susanne loved to plan and work in her garden and was a thoughtful gift giver.  Susanne had a love of culture, music and art, which manifested in her personal art gallery in her beautiful jewel box home filled treasures.  

Susanne is survived by her father, Jack Martin; her siblings, Kathleen Martin, Peggy Kreger (Brian), John Martin (Jenny), Fred Martin (Linda) and Mary Martin; as well as her nieces Andrew, Jack, Jessica, Becky, Lizzie and Thomas.

Susanne is proceeded in death by her mother Rose Ellen and niece Suzanne Harnevious.

Upon Susanne’s request graveside services will be held in Rockland at Woodlawn Cemetery on September 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Rockland.

There will be a brief memorial for Susanne on Saturday August 22nd at 11am. It will be held at First Congregational Church, 21 Church Street, Winchester, MA 01890
