Thomas Michael Turner

Thomas Michael Turner, 79, of Ontonagon, MI passed away on June 21, 2017 at Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services in Wausau, WI.

Thomas was born in Ontonagon, MI to Francis and Mary (Walleck) Turner on June 8, 1938.  He graduated from Ontonagon Area High School.  Thomas was married to Alvera Mae Wiebrauk on September 30, 1961 and they were married 55 wonderful years.

Thomas worked as the caretaker of the Holy Family Cemetery and the Ontonagon County Airport, and then as a custodian at the Ontonagon Courthouse from which he retired after 22 years.  Tom's passion was for trains and history and he was an avid model railroad collector.  He also enjoyed tinkering with his tools and going to the restaurant for coffee with his wife and friends.

Thomas is survived by his daughters Lucinda (Moody) Turner of Wausau, WI; Elizabeth (Joel Kerkman) Turner of Fremont, NE; sons Mark Turner, of Chicago, IL;  and Daniel Turner of  Wausau, WI.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Thomas was preceded in death by his wife Alvera; parents Francis and Mary Turner; and his sister Winifred (Martin) LaBrie.

A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon, MI with Rev. Michael Jacobus officiating at 11:00 AM and a visitation on Monday evening at the Cane Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM and Tuesday Morning from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at 11:00 AM
