Summer Bailey Obituary

Summer Lee Bailey, 46, passed away on February 26, 2024, at her home in Bruce Crossing.

Summer was born in L’Anse, Michigan to Michael and Dora (Hokkanen) Silk on February 15, 1978. She attended and graduated from Ewen-Trout Creek School. She was married to Shawn Bailey on August 18th, 2001, at Marion Lake in Watersmeet.

Summer Spent all her life in a wheelchair because of a birth defect but that did not stop her. She was a normal child getting into mischief, being a rebellious teenager, and being a wonderful Mother to her son. She loved camping, bird watching, and her many pets. She endured a lot in her young life but never complained. She was most definitely an inspiration to her family and friends.

Summer is survived by her husband and best friend for over 27 years, Shawn, a son Christian, a brother Michael Joel, and her parents Michael and Dora. She is also survived by some wonderful aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a sister Sonya Michelle, grandparents Glenn and Sylvia (Maki) Martz, Donald, and Gladys (Bonin) Budd, grandfathers Michael I. Silk and George Hokkanen, a special Uncle Ronald Maki; and a Special cousin Tracy Lynn Pete.
