Alfred Rogers, 81, of Watersmeet, passed away on September 4th at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital..
Alfred was born in Fenwick, MI to Gayla and Albert Rogers on June 3rd, 1937. He went to school in Fremont, MI. He married Elvira Dellorto on August 6th, 1959 in Corinth, Mississippi. He owned his own carpet business, Roger’s Carpet Service, for 50 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. Alfred enjoyed music, hunting and every thing about the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where he lived for 30 years. He liked sharing stories and he loved his family very much.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Elvira Rogers, his children Duane (Lisa) Rogers, Alan (Jeannine) Rogers, Sandra (Gregg) Stade, and Todd (Margo) Rogers, his siblings Van (Vicky), Riste (Sue), and Gayla, his grandchildren Amanda, Rachel (Ryan), Steven, Brooke (Shane), Kevin, Alicia (Micah), Austin, Aleksander, Kelsey, Jon (Samantha) and Ashley. His 4 great-grandchildren Halcyon, Everett, Molly, and Zion.
Alfred is preceded in death by his father, his mother and his brother Maynard Rogers.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 8th at the Cane Funeral Home in Bruce Crossing, MI from 9:00 -10:00 am Central Time, 10:00-11:00 Eastern Time, followed by a memorial service at 10:00 am Central Time, 11:00 AM Eastern Time. Al Rogers will be laid to rest at the Watersmeet Township Cemetery following the service. Pastor Ted Trudgeon will officiate.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Luncheon following services at the Watersmeet Township Hall.
