David A. Kasten

David A. Kasten passed away March 21, 2018 at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, MI.

He was born September 12, 1950 in Wakefield, MI to Norman & Rachael Kasten of Ewen, MI. David graduated from Ewen-Trout Creek High School, class of 1968. he worked in the tire business most of his life-owning his own tire company in Ewen, MI. Also owned Tailfeathers Bar for several years and worked at Lac Vieux Desert Casino as a bartender until his retirement.

He loved to bird and bow hunt, shoot trap, play pool, watch the Packers and especially spending time with his family and friends.  And his special gift was writing poetry and telling stories.

David is survived by his wife Kris Kasten of Alston, MI, son Troy (Gina) Kasten of Ewen, MI, daughter Renee (Todd) Nyberg of Superior, WI, step son Jim (Pam) Kantola of Bruce Crossing, MI, grandchildren Bryan, Brittney, Mark, Jason (Kate), Braxton, Cole, Stephanie (Mark) Pantti and Shana Norczyk, 9 great grandchildren, brothers Bob (Amy) Dale, Scott (Sheryl), Kent (Barb), Norman, sisters Sue (Bernie), Mary (Mark), Angie (Tom), Judy and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lori Taggart and stepsons Jason & Jeff.

A memorial service will be held at the Cane Funeral Home-Bruce Crossing Chapel in Bruce Crossing Saturday, March 31st at 1 p.m. Eastern time. Friends may call at the funeral home from Noon until the time of service. Followiing the service, there will be a luncheon served at Twilley's in Bruce Crossing.
