Edna Trasti Obituary

Edna Mabel Trasti 99 passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital's Long Term Care Unit.

Edna was born on October 5, 1919, to William and Katie (Kempainen) Lampinen, in Atlantic Mine, Michigan, where she grew up as a child. She attended the local schools and graduated from Painesdale High School in 1937.

She married William Trasti on December 1, 1951. She was employed at the Ontonagon Long Term Care Facility for 11 years as an occupational therapist.

She is survived by a son, Randall (Elizabeth) Trasti of Ontonagon, Michigan; three granddaughters, Kathy (Charles) Kotlaris of Old Hickory, Tennessee; Karen Seid of Rockland, Michigan; and Renee (Tom) Benes of Otsego, Minnesota. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, five nieces, and numerous cousins.

 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Kovalainen; husband, William Trasti, on April 14, 1999; her parents; son, Gerald Kovalainen, on March 4, 1982; son, William Kovalainen, on September 12, 2017; and four sisters, Martha Wesala, Alice Johnson, Ethel Hoffenbecker, and Elfie Tikkanen.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 15th at 11 am at the Siloa Lutheran Church in Ontonagon with Pastor Jay Welshonse officiating. Friends may call at the church 1 hour prior to the start of the service.  Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon.
