Gene Joseph Farley

Gene J. Farley, 88, passed away on Nov. 16, 2017.  Gene was born on January 27, 1929 to Foster and  Margaret (Seykora) Farley.

  He spent his early years growing up on the Seykora family farm in Flom, MN with his grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles. When Gene was 9 years old, he returned to Ontonagon to live with his father and worked for him at the Standard Oil Station.  Gene graduated from high school 2nd in his class at the age of 16.  He spent 9 years in the army where he served in both WW II and the Korean War.  Gene was home on leave when he met Arloa Holmes, who he married shortly thereafter.  Early in their marriage, Gene was the owner of Genes TV Service.  In 1963, he went to work for Hoerner Waldorf Co.  as an electrician. He retired after 40 years and held the position of Electrical Superintendent/Supervisor upon his retirement. Gene and Arloa were married for 56 yrs and had two children, Dee Dee (Ken)Preiss and Dan (Brenda) Farley.  Gene loved spending time with his family, attending his grandsons hockey games where he was known as “Grandpa Gene”, and puttering around at his hunting camp.

Gene is survived by his children, 6 grandchildren, Jillian (Tom) Wroblewski, Candace (John) Green, Kristi (Dave) Cardinal, Tyler (Kim) Farley, Kody Farley and Krystle (Devin) Gerzetich.  In addition he has 12 great grandchildren, Joey, Jordan, Makena, Charlotte, Ella, Joslyn, David, Madelyn, Dawson, Daniel, Penelope and Nolan.

At Gene’s request, there will be no services. Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements
