Gerald Ernest Platzke

                Gerald Ernest Platzke died peacefully at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN on June 26th, 2018 at the age of 62.

                Gerald is survived by his wife, Benita; children, Ryan (Michelle), Jesse (Stephanie), Evan (Andrea); Siblings, Joel (Dawn) Platzke, Barb Perttula, Dennis Morrison, Mark (Anne) Morrison, Stacy Morrison, Susan Platzke; Grandchildren, Andi, Mason, Isak Platzke, Gerry, Walter Platzke, Emmett Platzke.

                He was preceded in death by parents Henry Platzke and Edith Applekamp, step-father Corlas Morrison, and brothers-in-law Jay Perttula, and Daryl Neuman. 

                Gerald was born on July 4th, 1955 in Wakefield, Michigan.  He graduated from Ewen Trout Creek Schools in 1973 and attended Western Michigan University where he received his degree in Accounting.  In 1976 he married Benita Neuman and in 1977 he began his career in banking as management trainee at Citizens State Bank where he worked the next 35 years retiring in 2012 as Bank President.  After retiring they moved from their home in Ontonagon to Eden Prairie MN to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

                Gerald’s interest included hunting, fishing, watching every sporting event his children participated in, helping anyone in need, and belonging to numerous organizations within the community. He was a fantastic husband, father, and friend.  He truly loved his wife and family, he will be missed.

                Funeral will be held on Monday, July 2nd 2018 at Siloa Lutheran Church in Ontonagon Michigan.  Visitation will begin at 10am with service at 11am.  Burial will be at 2pm at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bruce Crossing.
