Kirk LaCasse Obituary

Kirk Allen LaCasse died suddenly in Goodyear, Arizona on Dec 29, 2018 at the age of 27.

Kirk is survived by his parents Peter, Sr and Dawn LaCasse of Ontonagon; a brother Peter, Jr (Ashley) LaCasse of Biloxi, MS; a sister Monica LaCasse of Loveland, CO;  nephew Braylon LaCasse of Biloxi MS and maternal grandfather Louis Roy (Nancy) Lumbard, of Creston IA.  He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Norma Jean Lumbard; and paternal grandparents Roland and Virginia LaCasse.

Kirk was born on March 17, 1991 in Colorado Springs, CO in Penrose Hospital. He attended Yokota East Elementary School in Tokyo, Japan. After moving to Bellevue, NE, he completed middle school and graduated from Bellevue East High School in 2009.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 2011. His first assignment was to Hill AFB, UT where he worked as an aircraft radar operator. In 2012 he deployed to Al Udeid AB, Qatar. From there he went to Misawa AB, Japan. After 2 years overseas, he came back stateside and retrained at Pensacola NAS to become an F35 Stealth Fighter maintainer.  From there he went back to Hill AFB in Utah for another short tour of duty and was subsequently assigned to Luke AFB, AZ where he had been serving presently.

Kirk was an accomplished athlete and had a passion for playing basketball, football, baseball, golf, and tennis. He was a snowboarder and most recently learned how to downhill ski. He was also an avid fan of the Detroit Pistons, Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and Detroit Redwings. As well he loved his University of Michigan Wolverine football and basketball teams. He loved to play video games with his nephew Braylon who called Uncle Kirk “his best friend”. He is remembered as a competitive, happy go lucky, generous, family-oriented soul who lived life to its fullest. He will be deeply missed by his family, his relatives, and his many friends.

Visitation for Kirk will take place Monday, January 14, 2019 at United Methodist Church in Ontonagon from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm and a funeral service will be 1:00 pm at the church with Pastor Nelson Hall officiating.  Burial will be in the spring at Riverside Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be sent to Ontonagon County Cancer Association Memorial Donation, P.O. Box 282, Ontonagon, MI  49953  or Alzheimers Association, Greater Michigan Chapter, Upper Pennisula Region. 710 Chippewa Square Ste. 201, Marquette MI  49655.
