Ruben Gonzales

Ruben Gonzales, 64 of Ontonagon, passed away July 24, 2019 with his wife Barb, daughter Anita and granddaughter Riley June at his side. 

Ruben was born in Racine, WI to Josephine and Ramiro Gonzales on May 31, 1955. He attended school in Racine. Ruben moved to Ontonagon in 1984. On June 28 2008, Ruben and Barb (Holmes) were married on the beach in Ontonagon, where they renewed their vows this year.  Ruben worked for the Ontonagon County Sherriff's Dept., Tribal Police in Watersmeet and Great Lakes Fish and Wildlife. He served in the National Guard with the 107th Engineers for 8 years. He was a member of the Ontonagon Mens Club.

Ruben is survived by his loving wife Barb,  his daughters Rorie (Mark) Steinmetz, Hartsford, WI, Sabrina (Kevin) Novine, Peoria, AZ, Anita (John) Larson, Reno, NV, and Alicia Gonzales, Pinkney, MI. Sisters Diana (Gaspar) Munoz, Alma (George) Alvarez, Joanie (Paul) Bishop, Mary Lou (Tom) Jensen, Gracie Lozano and Christina Salas, all of Racine and Norma Barela of Texas. Brothers Ramiro (Amelia) Gonzales Jr. and Reynaldo Gonzales of Racine. Grandchildren Sage, Pearl, Leland and Mark Steinmetz, Brianna Arabella Siso, Kevin and Alivia Novine, Grant Hanlin and sibling, due in December, and Riley Larson plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his "wives without papers", Ann, Connie, Judith, Judy, Julie, Trish and Teresa, along with many good friends. (He loved you all so very much)

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Royel and Ricardo.

A celebration of life will be held on August 4th at the VFW in Ontonagon, starting at 3pm.
