Stanley Willard Strangle

January 23, 1934 ~ June 12, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Stanley Willard Strangle, 83, of Paynesville, MI passed away on June 12, 2017 at his home.  Stanley was born on January 23, 1934 in Koochiching County, MN to Willard and Vera (Niemi) Strangle and the family returned to Trout Creek, MI in 1936 where he attended school and graduated as Salutatorian with the class of 1952.  In 1955 he began work at the White Pine Copper Mine as an Electrician and retired in 1987.  He operated Electronics and Television Sales and service from home in the 1950's and 1960's.  He was licensed with National Association Amateur Radio as K8NYT for many years talking to his many friends.  Other hobbies included photography of weddings, reunions, community events and special occasions of family friends, also an avid hunter, fisherman, a big basketball booster for Ewen and Trout Creek.

Stanley attended the Worlds Fair in New York City and several Labor Day walks across the Mackinac Bridge, made 3 trips to Finland to search for his origin in Pieksamaki and Kankanpaa, he was a licensed Single Engine Aircraft Pilot and flew out of the Land 'O' Lakes Airport.

Stanley is survived by his sister; Patricia (Denver) Leinonen of Almont and Covington, MI.  Nephews, Jim and daughter Erin Leinonen of Long Beach, California, Jerry (Marci), Sons, Austin & Blake Leinonen of Newman, Georgia.  He is preceded in death by his parents Willard and Vera Strangle, Uncles; Eero and Bruno Niemi, Aunts: Martha Tolonen, Bertha Bosio and Nan Bosio.

Visitation will take place at the Cane Funeral Home in Bruce Crossing, Friday August 4th from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM.  Pastor Ted Trudgeon officiating.  Burial will take place in Trout Creek Cemetery, Trout Creek, MI  Memorial donations may be made to the Trout Creek American Legion Post.
