Susan Anne Young

Susan Anne Young of Mass City passed away on Tuesday, November 5 at home. Susan was born in Detroit to Harry and Roma Swan on April 4, 1942. She was very active in the United Methodist Church of Rockland and their United Methodist Women group. Susan took great pride in being a self taught farmer and enjoyed raising orchids, watching Judge Judy every afternoon, spending time with her beloved cats Cheddar, Lena and Karl, her dog Ellie and being outside gardening and  enjoying this beautul place that she called home.

She is survived by her daughter Stephanie Barber, her friend and partner Charlie Bolopue, her sister Cindy Werner, her grandchildren Andrew Barber, Emily Barber, Brandon Barber and Paries VandeWater, her great grandchildren Elizabeth and Henry Barber and her nephew Luke Werner.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents Harry Swan and Roma MacGlashan and her son Tad Vandewater.

Visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church of Rockland on Friday, November 8 from 2 to 6 pm and funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 9 at 1pm with a luncheon to follow. Pastor Nelson Hall will officiate and Pastor Bruce Steinberg will give the eulogy. Arrangements are by Cane Funeral Home of Ontonagon.

The family of Susan Young wishes to extend our sincere thanks to her church family, her many friends and neighbors, Suzanne Miron of Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center, the staff of Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital and Clinic, the kind and compassionate staff of UP Health System Home Care and Hospice and the many people that kept Susan in their prayers.
