Timothy John Tousignant, age 54, of Ontonagon, passed away on May 7, 2019 at UW Health University Hospital of Madison with family by his side. He was born in Ontonagon, Michigan to Edmond J. and Sharon (Gerzetich) Tousignant on February 5, 1965.
He graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1984. Throughout high school and for many years following, he worked as a mechanic at his family’s Yamaha shop “Riverside Marine” where he repaired and put together snowmobiles, 3 & 4-wheelers as well as worked on boats. Over the years he was also employed by Frank Pollard Logging, Gitche Gumee Oil Co., Lakeshore Inc., and Pat’s Auto.
Tim loved dirt bikes, wheelers, side-by-sides and snowmobiles. While growing up, he competed in many different types of races such as cross country, drags, ice ovals, and hill climbs. Many who knew him can fondly remember the handstand he did while riding his dirt bike in the South Range hill climb. Some of his other hobbies included mud riding and bird hunting with his sons.
He is survived by his sons Daniel (fiancé Julie Walters) of Appleton, WI and Justin of Ironwood, MI; mother Sharon of Ontonagon; grandmother Alma Nevins of Ontonagon; sisters Sheila Barnes of Jacksonville, FL and Renee of Wausau, WI; brother Craig of Ontonagon; niece Nicole (Matt) Bell of Glenview, CA, great niece Riley, great nephew RJ, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Tim was preceded in death by his father Edmond.
Visitation will take place on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will be held after the service followed by a burial at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Greenland weather permitting.
