Virginia Antoinette Stefanich, 92 passed away at Aspirus Long Term Care in Ontonagon, Michigan, on January 14, 2020.
Virginia was born August 19, 1927, in Ontonagon, Michigan, to John and Cecelia (Vertatich) Szaroletta. After high school, she moved to, trained, and worked for Western Union Telegraph in Chicago, Illinois, for a few years. She returned to Ontonagon and married Joseph Stefanich on June 25, 1949. They remained in Ontonagon their entire lives attaining 60 years of marriage until Joe’s passing in 2010. Virginia worked at Ford Motor until starting her family and was a dedicated homemaker. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.
Virginia had two daughters, Joanna (Gale) Holmstrom, and Mary Jane (David) Loukus; two brothers, John Szaroletta (deceased), and Joseph Szaroletta; six grandchildren, Roy (Brooke) Holmstrom, Brissa (Jr. Hernandez) Holmstrom, Carson Holmstrom, Julie Loukus, David Loukus (deceased), and Lynnette (Jason) Firman; and seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Paisley, JJ, Javier, Alysandra, Olivia and Cole.
A private service of Christian burial will be held at her final resting place in the Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of expressions of sympathy, the family requests you do an act of kindness for a loved one.
