Alvah Bliss "A.B." Brookins 95 of Ontonagon passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.

He was born March 26, 1915 in Oakfield, WI to the late Roy & Johanna (Thompson) Brookins. A.B. graduated from the Ontonagon High School with the class of 1934. He worked various jobs in Oakfield and was eventually employed by the Midwest Telephone Company.

In 1937 A.B. married his first wife Millie. They moved back to Ontonagon in 1942. Together they raised their family and resided in Ontonagon until her death in 1986. In 1987 he married the former Bessie Nygard. She preceded him in death in 1998.

A.B. is survived by his daughter-in-law Donna Brookins, sons Dale and George (Inez) Brookins, daughters Judith Hart, Joanna Pestka and Charlotte Haas, step-son George (Joan) Nygard, step-son-in-law Robert Watt, 20 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 wives, son LeRoy, grandson Paul, step daughter Bonnie Watt, step daughter-in-law Linda Nygard, daughter in law Loretta Brookins and 4 son in laws Richard Hart, Dennis Cole, Jim Karow and Richard Haas.

Funeral services for A.B. will be held Saturday, April 24th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ontonagon, Pastor Howard Neider officiating. Friends may call at the church 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon.
