Obituary

Ardell Marshall Lobeck, 82, of Ontonagon, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2008 at his home.

He was born March 17, 1925 in Chicago, IL to the late Joseph and Alice Lobeck. Ardell served in the United States Army during World War II. On November 24, 1944 he married the former Anna Irene Daniels in New York just before shipping over seas. Together they raised 6 children and helped to raise 3 grandchildren.

Ardell worked at the White Pine Copper Mine as an underground foreman. He played Santa Claus for many years, was an active member of the VFW, Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star. For several years, during his retirement, he drove many people to doctors appointments as a volunteer driver.

Ardell is survived by his wife Anna Irene Lobeck, 6 children, Allan (Dana)Lobeck of Houston, TX, Joseph Lobeck of Ontonagon, MI, Marsha (John) Fritzinger of Atlanta, GA, Janet (Calvin Kostamo) Raymond of Pelkie, MI, Janice Ambrose of Hermitage, TN, and Pat (Linda) Lobeck of Kingsford, MI, grandchildren Allaina, Tristine, Jimmy, Shelly, Joe, Billie Jean, Ryan and Matt Lobeck, Nick, Rebecca, Kristine (Jason) and Amanda Fritzinger, Jennifer (Robert) Hancock, Johnathan Raymond and Randall & Tony Ambrose, 10 great grandchildren, former daughter-in-law and very special friend Linda Ross-Delph and sister Vera Szopinski.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son George, and sister Alice Erdman.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 28 at the Siloa Lutheran Church in Ontonagon from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will take place Friday, February 29 at the church at 3 p.m. with Pastor Penny Olson officiating. Friends may also call at the church Friday afternoon 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon.
