Arthur Johnson, 81, of Ontonagon, passed away on February 20, 2017 at Long Term Care after a courageous battle with dementia and Parkinson's disease.

Arthur  was born in Ontonagon MI to George and Melvina (Lessard) Johnson on November 18, 1935. He attended Ontonagon school until the 9th grade when he joined the the Army. On January 19, 1957 he married the former Joanne Ross. He worked at Smurfit Stone Container for 40 years.

Arthur was a Veteran of the Korean War and served in the U.S. Army 101st Air Born. He enjoyed swimming, working on electronics, singing, spending time with his children and grandchildren. Art was a man of many talents and words. He was loved by many and will be missed by even more.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 60 yrs., Joanne, Children Kathy (Randy) Dishaw, Patrick (Beate) Johnson, Laurie (Edward) Tafelski, and Denise Johnson. Grandchildren Jeremy Dishaw, Randy P. Dishaw, Amanda (Brad) Warner, Kevin Johnson, Steven Johnson, Joseph Adamavich, Dustin (Jaimie) Adamavich, Ross Adamavich, Jordan Dhooge, step-grandchildren John (Tina) Tafelski and Paul (Amanda) Tafelski. Great-grandchildren Christian Umlor, Austin Fomento, Charolette Dishaw, Brayden and Logan Dishaw and Izzy Warner, brother-in-law Patrick (Gretchen) Ross. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Gladys (Reino) Wirrkala, Eleanor (John) Harju, Shirley (Don) Kolstad, Helen (Pete) Carlisle, Marilyn (Sheldon) Hemming, Hansena "Tootie" (Tom) Yaunke, George Willard (Iva) Johnson and William (Joann) Johnson. Son -in-law Robert Adamavich, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Cane Funeral Home. Visitation at 2:00 pm with the service to follow at 3:00 pm. Arrangements by Cane Funeral Home.
