IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bernard A.
Roehm
January 4, 1926 – April 27, 2013
On April 27, 2013, we lost our husband, father, Grandpa, Papa, and friend, Bernie Roehm. He was 87 years young and lived his life to the fullest.
Bernie was born in Ontonagon, MI on January 4, 1926 to William and Aili (Leviska) Roehm. He has a twin sister, Bernice (Henry) Rahkola and a half-sister, Shirley (Elmer) Komula who survive him.
At the age of 17, Bernie joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged in April of 1946. He later worked at Pontiac Motors, Norwalk Trucking, as a logger, and at the White Pine Mine.
While in Pontiac, MI he married Betty (Hughes) on November 23, 1946 before moving to Ontonagon, MI in 1966.
Bernie loved to fish and hunt. One of his favorite times of the year was in the fall when many of his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law came to Union Bay Campground to fish off the rocks. If it could be that time of year for him always, he would have wished for that. He was always busy working on one project or another as it had to be done "yesterday." His greatest joy was helping out his family on anything that needed to be done. You could always, always count on him to be there if he was not out having coffee somewhere.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty and their five children: Terry (Penny) Roehm of Pinconning, MI, Jerry (Mary) Roehm of Manhattan, KS, Denny (Karen) Roehm of Merrill, MI and twin daughters, Pattie (David) Corey of Mass City, MI and Pamela (Vince) Meyer of Napa, CA.
He was grandpa to Tina, Christopher, Thomas, Terri, Denny, Jason, Corrie and Alyssa, and Papa to his great-grandchildren: Mitch, Chad, Cassandra, Harley, Alex, Frankie, Siennia, Gabbie, Cece, Noah, Kayle, Ailee and Eddie. He has three step-grandchildren: Donny, Jesse and Jenny and five step-great-grandchildren: Erica, Emma, Donny, Lily and Hope. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
One of the greatest gifts we ever got came from God... we called him husband, dad, Grandpa, Papa and friend. We will miss him always, and treasure the memories he gave us forever.
