Berniece "Bernie" Trevorrow, 85 of Ontonagon passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital's Long Term Care.

She was one of twins born to Mildred & Otto Yanke on March 8, 1922. She lived in Ontonagon until she graduated from high school. After graduation, she worked in an airplane manufacturing plant in Chicago until she was proposed to by Eldred (Pete) Trevorrow. They were married in 1944. It was then that she moved to Greenland. In addition to being a homemaker, she kept the books for her husband when he had his carpentry business. In 1974 her husband passed away and Berniece moved back to her family home in Ontonagon. In 1976, she began working at Syl's CafAC. and continued to work there until1994 when her mother required more constant care.

In 1977, with the help of her brother Carl Yanke, she learned to drive the car that her brother-in-law Bob Booker had brought for her from Indiana. Throughout the years, Berniece was a member of Eastern Star and held several different positions in the organization. This membership was one that brought great joy into her life.

In 1997, she successfully defeated a cancer that had been found. In 1998, Berniece moved in with her daughter Marie and her family and continued to reside with them until her care needs became more than could be provided at home.

She is survived by her daughter Marie (Robert) Cooke, grandchildren Ethan Cooke, Jordan Cooke, Bunny Lynn Bakanovic, Matthias Cooke and James Bakanovic and sister Jeanette Booker.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 16th at 7 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon, Pastor Cherrie Sporleder officiating. Friends may call 2 hours prior to the start of the service.
