Obituary

An icon of Ontonagon history has left us.

Betty Jane (Watt) Greer passed away on February 20, 2008 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital's Long Term Care Unit.

Betty entered this life on October 13, 1920 to Rudolph "Bud" & Nellie (Dickenson) Watt. She was the youngest of 7 children.

She loved Ontonagon and its history. She never shrunk from offering her opinion and was a volunteer reporter for the Ontonagon Herald through the letters to the editor column. Betty chose to live out her final years in this area.

Betty is survived by her daughter Charlene (Donald) Marsh of St. Joseph, MI, 5 grandchildren Philip (Rosa) McKeel, Bryan (Melodie) McKeel, Roger (Joshua) Burren and Jay Marsh and 8 great-grandchildren Bradley Pluto, Karissa McKeel, Savanah McKeel, Zoie McKeel, Nevaeh McKeel, Antonio Marsh, Jossalyn Durren and Sabrina Marsh.

She was preceded from this life by her husband Charles B. Greer, her parents, all of her brothers and sister who she loved early and Fred Alto, a very special friend until the end of her life.

Spring burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon.
