Betty Porter died July 12,2010 at the Aspirus Ontonagon Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for the past several days.

Betty was born October 28, 1931, in Columbia, Missouri; daughter of Robert Glenn and Elsie Hall Glenn. She graduated from David Hickman High School, Columbia, Missouri, and attended the University of Missouri in Columbia. In 1948 she married William W. Porter. She was a professional florist .for 15 years in Plymouth, Michigan. In 1994 she and Bill moved to Ontonagon and traveled to Georgia for the winter months. While in Ontonagon, Betty and Bill joined the Ontonagon United Methodist Church and Betty spearheaded the floral beautification of downtown Ontonagon. Betty was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and Miscowaubik Club of Calumet.

Betty and Bill have 3 sons: William Jr. (Tonya) of Hong Kong; Stephen (Katy) and their son John of Brentwood, Tennessee; and Tim and fiancAC.e Maria Michels of Port Angeles, Washington and Tim's daughter Anna Maria Porter of Holly Hill, Florida.

Betty is survived by her husband and 3 sons; brothers Robert Glenn (Sarah) of Houston, Texas and Keith Glenn (Joyce) of Savannah, Georgia; brother-in-law Tom Porter of Columbia, Missouri; brother-in-law Charles (Josiane) Porter of Conroe, Texas; and sister-in-law Peggy (Porter) Hoel of Kansas City, Missouri and Sanibel Island, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty's first love was flowers, then cats, bridge, her children, and husband. Betty enjoyed gardening, traveling, arranging flowers, and she was one fantastic cook. She valued every friendship and could be counted on to help out whenever needed.

Visitation will be held Wednesday morning, July 14, 2010, at 10:00AM at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon with Service to follow at 11: OOAM with Pastors Bruce Steinberg and Rosemary DeHut officiating. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the memorial fund of the Ontonagon United Methodist Church, 109 Greenland Rd. Ontonagon, MI 49953.
