Betty D. Zimmer, age 92, of Ontonagon, Michigan, passed away on January 22, 2015, at Aspirus Long Term Care Facility in Ontonagon. She was born April 9, 1922 in Ontonagon, daughter of the late James and Anna (Chenette) Zimmer.

She graduated from Ontonagon High School with the class of 1940. After graduation, she attended the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Ashland, Wisconsin, graduating in 1944 as a registered nurse. She was employed at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for thirty three years, retiring in 1977. She then returned to Ontonagon where she spent her remaining years. She gave generously of her time helping many organizations and charities.

Betty is survived by a sister, Darline Roden, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law, Ruth Zimmer, Ontonagon, Michigan and Maxine Zimmer, Kalamazoo, Michigan along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers Francis (Fritz), Vernon, Jay and Gene Zimmer.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 26, 2015 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon with Fr. Michael Jacobus, Celebrant. The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
