William (Bill) Walter Kovalainen, 73, passed away peacefully at the Aspirus Hospital in Ontonagon, MI, on September 12, 2017, after a brief illness.

Bill had grown up and went to school in Ontonagon, Michigan. At a young age, he joined the military and served in the Army.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Bill is survived by his mother, Edna Mabel Trasti; brother, Randall (Elizabeth) Trasti; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Kovalainen; step-father, William Trasti; and brother, Gerald Kovalainen.

Funeral services will be held at the Cane Funeral Home Saturday, September 16, 2017 beginning at 11 AM. Friends may call the funeral home one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial and military rites will take place following the service at the Riverside Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Ontonagon County veterans association.
