Brenda Joy Hamm passed away October 9th, peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy battle with health complications. Her fighting spirit will be missed. 

Brenda was born in El Paso on Texas December 18, 1957, to the late John and Judith Hokkanen and grew up in Ontonagon where she graduated as the salutatorian in the class of 1976. After graduation she spent two years in southern California, before returning to the Upper Peninsula and enjoying a career at Menigoz Lumber, the Ontonagon County courthouse, and as a township board member. 

Brenda was a skilled artist and enjoyed drawing and painting. She also loved waterskiing, cars, and driving. 

Brenda was preceded in death by her sister Teresa Lindstrom, her husband Gaylord Hamm, and her longtime partner Dick Craycraft. She is survived by her sister Holly (Jim) Clark, brother in law Steve Lindstrom, nephew Eric Lindstrom (Chastity Hudson), nieces Heather Lindstrom, Rachel Clark (Stephen Face), and Lauren Clark, and great niece Aurora Lindstrom.
