Catherine "Kay" Elizabeth Downing 86 of Rockland died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.

Catherine Elizabeth Winzenburg was born in Oconomowoc, WI in August 20, 1923, daughter of Thomas and Olive (nee Stark) Winzenburg.

Kay graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1941. She worked in Milwaukee and Detroit. Kay loved working and being around people. She married Ed Downing and they lived in Westland, MI until moving to Rockland in the 70's.

Kay is survived by a sister Dorothy Linardi of Mount Pleasant, PA, her step children Don (Jan) Downing, Jerry Downing, Patricia Downing, Pam (Bill) Roman, Dee (Bob) O'Connell, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great- great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed, step daughter Sharon (Leroy) Killoran, her sisters Berniece, Marie and Theresa and 4 brothers Eddie, Tom, Bill & George.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, December 28, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockland. Spring burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Rockland.
