Charles W. Silver 78 of Ontonagon passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Marquette General Hospital.
He was born June 14, 1930 in New Jersey, son of the late Brooker and Rose (Gross) Silver.
Charles graduated from the Lawrence Institute of Technology with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a veteran of the Korean War. During his time in the service he was a field wireman and pole linesman.
Charles was united in marriage to Roberta Susan Day on June 28, 1958 in Detroit. They moved to Ontonagon in 1969. Charles worked at Michigan Bell Telephone Company,the White Pine Copper Mine in mine research and finally at Ontonagon Memorial Hospital in the maintenance department. He was also a licensed hamm radio operator.
Charles is survived by his wife of 50 years Roberta, sons Scott and Robert W. Silver and 3 very special granddaughters Lauren, Natalie and Miranda Silver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Spencer Silver and sister Jane E. Silver.
A memorial service is planned for the spring at the Riverside Cemetery and will be announced at a later date. The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
