Charles Edward Sommer, 81, of Ontonagon, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin.

Charlie was born in Ontonagon on August 31, 1932 to Edward and Almeda (Soder) Sommer and he attended the Ontonagon Area High School and graduated in 1950. He married Shirley Sirvio on August 23, 1980.

He had worked many years as a carpenter/roofer. Charlie enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time out at camp with his friends and family. He also loved to spend time in his garden.

He is survived by his stepchildren, Gary (Lois) Sirvio, James (Susie) Sirvio, Barbara Wright, Donna (Steven) Hemmila, Michael (Rita) Sirvio, sisters Anita Anderson and Phyllis Bailey, and brother George Sommer and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and stepdaughter Linda Marks.

A Memorial Service and burial will be held in the spring. The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
