Cleo Dorothy Goulet Allen, the beloved mother of five children, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, passed away on November 24.

Cleo was born in Ontonagon on January 24, 1921 and spent her lifetime in the community she loved. She attended Ontonagon schools and was graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1939.

She married Merle R. Allen, a World War II veteran and also a lifetime resident of Ontonagon. They raised a family that includes Dennis (Patti) Allen of Milwaukee, WI., Gary Allen of Ontonagon, Sally (Tim) Haas of Amherst, WI., Linda Allen of Ontonagon and Patrick (Karen) Allen also of Ontonagon.

Cleo worked at Wagar's Women's Apparel for many years while rearing her five children.

Her interests very many and varied, first and foremost always being her family. She loved the beach and having picnics there with her sisters and all the children. She was a champion mushroom and berry picker and enjoyed many summers camping. Her winters were filled with snowmobiling at the Ponderosa, bowling, bingo and playing cards into the wee hours of the morning. She marveled at the wonders of Mother Nature and loved watching birds and other wildlife from her kitchen window.

Cleo is survived by her sister Barbara (Tony) Domitrovich, her children Denny, Gary, Sally, Linda and Patrick, her grandchildren Jay Todd Allen, Darcie Torres, Darris Allen, Nicholas Haas, Alexis Allen, Colton Allen, and Cleo Allen and her great grandchildren Piper Allen and Javian Torres.

Cleo was preceded in death by her husband Merle, her parents Leo and Dorothy Goulet, her sisters Adrance Goulet Basinski and Patricia Goulet Rogers and her brother Harold (Butts) Goulet

Memorial services will be held November 27 at the Holy Family Church in Ontonagon with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. with the service immediately following. The family requests that donations be sent to the Michigan Chapter of the American Lung Assn. at 25900 Greenfield Rd., Suite 401, Oak Park, MI 48237.
