Daniel J. Norton, 84 formerly of Ontonagon, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2010 in Mequon, Wisconsin.

Born on April 1, 1925 in Ontonagon, Michigan to the late Dan and Noreen (nee Leary) Norton. Dan graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1943. After graduation, Dan served in the United State Marine Corp during World War II.

Following the service, Dan went to work for the Wayne County Road Commission and was later named the Airport Manager of Detroit Wayne Country Metropolitan Airport. A position he held until his retirement. During his tenure as Airport Manager, Dan served on many Senate Sub Committees with respect to airport and airline safely including the Airport Division of the NTSB. He served as president of the Michigan Airport Managers Association, as well as president of the International Association of Airport Managers.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Bill) Flynn of Mequon, Wisconsin, his son, Dan (Jessann) Norton of Pinckney, Michigan; three grandsons, Patrick Flynn of Stanford, California, Michael Flynn of Washington DC and John Flynn of Los Angles, California. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife, Marilyn (Schon) Norton and his sister, Catherine Jensen.

A graveside memorial service for Daniel Norton who passed away January 14, 2010, will be held Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Cemetery in Ontonagon. Military rites will be preformed by the Ontonagon County Veteran's Association. The Cane funeral Home is assisting the family.
