Daniel Tyree 96 of Ontonagon passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.
He was born in Benton, KY on November 2, 1913 to Clint & Nellie (Cornwall) Tyree.
Dan was a cook for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Wisconsin. He worked as a welder for 45 years in Wisconsin and Michigan. Dan was hired at the Horner Waldorf paper mill in Ontonagon in 1957 and retired from the Ontonagon mill when it was Champion International in 1978.
Dan loved the beauty of the Ontonagon wilderness and was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed bird hunting and loved to go fishing with his friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed by all of those who loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife Mae Elaine Tyree, 2 sisters Mamie Ruth (Alfred) Reed and Janice (John) Cash, children Daniel (Diane) Tyree, Nancy (Robert)Becker, Gayle Mentzer, John (Masako) Tyree and Linda (Jon) Starr, 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his brothers Billy Clint, Robert and Earl Tyree.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 9th at the Cane Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will take place Thursday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Reverend Cherrie Sporleder officiating. Friends may also call at the funeral home Thursday morning one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon.
