Obituary

David H. Rolston 74, of Bergland, passed away at DJ Jacobetti  Veterans Home on October 26, 2025.

David was born in Ironwood, MI to RoseMary and John Rolston on September 23, 1951. He went to school at Bergland, MI. He never married saying, "Any woman would be crazy to marry me and I ain't marrying no crazy woman!" Dave kept his sense of humor til the very end. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War stationed in Alaska operating an Army tank. When returning to home, Dave worked at several sawmills, many odd jobs, and gave his time work experience to help others. Dave enjoyed working for the Lake Gogebic Chamber as a snow trail groomer driver. He also helped his brother Bruce, by helping care for niece Stacia and nephew Tony, where he earned the name of Mr. Mom.

Dave loved hunting, fishing, canoe trips, riding his 4-wheeler and meeting friends at the Bay Bar and the A Frame. He was a member of the Bar None hunting camp, where he made many memories with his buddies.

Dave is survived by his sisters; Mariann Friedli, Lynn Rosenthal, and Sally (Leonard) Ellsworth. His brothers; Jim (Shari) Rolston, Bruce (Debbie) Rolston and Bill (Debi) Rolston. Along with many nieces, nephews, great/great great nieces and nephews.

Dave is preceded in death by his mother and father; brother Keith; sister-in-law Debbie; nephew, Tony Rolston; great nephew Hunter, niece Melissa and her newborn; brother-in-law William Chris Friedli; dear friends Sharon Brown, Tom Repp and Dennis Steinburg.

Dave may not be with us but his kindness, joking, tell it like it is attitude, love for family and friends will remain with us.

The family has chosen to reschedule the OCVA graveside Military Honors until next spring due to inclement weather. A Celebration of Life will still take place on November 22nd, at the Bergland Firehall beginning at 3:00pm with a luncheon to follow.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at DJ Jacobetti Veteran's Home and Rolling Meadows Independent Living for the care and respect they have shown to him. Thank you to John Cane and the Cane Funeral Home for the kindness and helpfulness you have given us.

The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
