Obituary

Delilah Pearl (Picotte) Hamm died on Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Aspirus Ontonagon Memorial Hospital's LCU facility.

She was born on March 4, 1918, to Joseph Picotte and Delia Brooks.

She married Lawrence Hamm on April 6, 1935 in Ontonagon. They had been married 73 wonderful years at the time of her passing.

Dee, as she was called by many of her family and friends, worked at the Elks as a young woman and went on to work as a waitress and cook in several restaurants around the Village of Ontonagon. She also worked as a cook at the old hospital and at Maple Manor until her retirement in 1988.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Nancy; son, Gaylord; and grandchildren, Jimmy Brisky and Gilbert Hamm; as well as three sisters, Loretta, Vi and Joyce; and seven brothers, Joe, Delmar, Walter, Clarence, Bill, Robert and Lawrence.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; sons, Gilbert of Ontonagon, John (Sue) of Ontonagon, Lawrence (Mary) of Ontonagon; daughter, Judith (James) Griffin of Ontonagon; sister, Eleanor Guzek; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-granchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Cane Funeral Home of Ontonagon. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, with the funeral starting with mass at 11:30 a.m. on July 3, 2008, at the Holy Family Church. Graveside services to follow at Holy Family Cemetery in Ontonagon.

The family would like to invite all of her friends and family to join in the celebration of Mrs. Delilah Hamm's long and wonderful life here in the Village of Ontonagon.
