Donald Arthur Beck, 73 of Ewen, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2015 at his home.
He was born October 1, 1942 in Detroit to Clement and Ruth (Gallagher) Beck. He moved to West Branch, MI in 1948 and graduated from West Branch Schools in 1961. On June 15, 1963, he married Linda Kay Foor in West Branch. Donald worked as an iron worker and worked on the production line for General Motors from 1963-1969. He then attended Mott Community College in Flint on a Millwright apprenticeship. He became a Journeyman Millwright in less than 3 years, continuing his work with General Motors until his retirement in 1986. Donald and his family moved to Ewen in May, 1996.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, riding ATVs, wood and leather crafts, visiting friends, and building, repairing, shooting and reloading guns, especially military rifles. He most loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his wife Linda of Ewen; children Dawn (John) Grathoff of Calumet, Kevin (Holly) Beck of Angora, MN and Kurt (Carla) Beck of Calumet; grandchildren Emery, Nick, Josh, Logan, Lynzie, Brandon, Jordon ,Zachary, Chen Da and Jia Jie Huang. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clement and Ruth; son Norman Beck; sister Maxine Crawford; brothers William and Richard Beck; granddaughter Mariah Beck and great-grandson Mason Williams.
A Memorial Service for Donald will be held Friday, December 4, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home in Bruce Crossing. Family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Donald's family.
